Richard is named as the eldest son in the will of his father Thomas Reeve of Roxwell. An heirs deed from 1693 states that Richard was of Willingale Spain.From Estate and Family records at the Essex Archives, a deed dated 1693:
- Richard Reeve, of Willingale Spain, yeoman, s. & h. of Thomas Reeve, late of Roxwell, and Susan his wife, afterwards wife of Thomas Foster, of Roxwell and Matthew Reeve, of Shellow Bowells, brother of Richard to Henry Maggett, of Writtle, yeoman, 2 crofts called "Seawalls", near "Stone hill" in Roxwell
In his own will, dated 1697, he mentions:
- Matthew Reeve my Brother
- Mary Peagrim ye wife of John Peagrim my sister
- Richard Bates my Granson (made executor)
