  5. Jemima Reeve
  6. Sarah Reeve
  7. Elizabeth Reeve

His first wife Jemima died on 17 Nov 1813.

Silas Reeve of Brookhaven, Moriches, Suffolk County, New York wrote his will on 12 Feb 1829 and it was proved 13 Apr 1835. He mentions his wife (unnamed) and children Joel, Franklin, Jemime Benjamin, Sarah Haff, Abigail Brown, and Elizabeth. Since Abigail Post, who is known to be the daughter of Isaiah Reeve names Franklin Reeve, Joel Reeve and Sarah Haff as nephews and nieces, this identifies this Silas as the son mentioned in the will of Isaiah Reeve.

The probate of Silas's will notes that Emeline Reeves, Charles Henry Reeves, Frances Benjamin, Jemima Amanda Benjamin, and Mary Elizabeth Benjamin were minor heirs at the time of Silas's death. The probate mentions Abigail Turner wife of Joseph Turner in the proceedings which would indicate that Abigail was married twice, once to Mr. Brown, and then to Joseph Turner. An abstract of the probate file #2307 indicates that the widow is identified as Charity. Also children Abigail wife of Jonah Turner, Sally wife of James Haff, Elizabeth wife of Frederick Parsons. Grandchildren Emeline and Charles-Henry were children of a deceased son Charles. Frances, Jemima-Amanda, and Mary-Elizabeth were children of deceased daughter Jemima Benjamin.

Research Notes

Welsey Baker in Study of the Reeve Family incorrectly identifies Isaiah's son Silas as the one on the 1776 census. He did not know that this Silas could be identified as the one who died in 1835. Given that he was born in 1765, he couldn't have been the one listed in the 1776 census.
