Children of William Reeves and Isabella Steel:

In 1801, William petitioned the court for a guardian. The bond stated describes him as "William Reeves an infant of the Age of Fourteen Years and upwards son of James Reeves late of the County of Salem deceased..." This was dated 18 Jan 1801. He made choice of Benjamin Thompson as his guardian (Will Records 2437Q).

The 1803 will of John Steel names his daughter Isabella Reeves and "my son in law William Reeves" who was named as one of the executors.

In a deed from 1806, Stephen Reeves & Elizabeth his wife, and William Reeves and Isabel his wife, and Rachel widow of James Reeves sold more land they had received by will "from their Father James Reeves Junr Decd."

William and his wife Isabella were living in Upper Alloways Creek, Salem County in 1811 when they and his brother Stephen sold more land from their father's estate.

In 1826, a division of real estate from John Steel's estate was made to "James Reeves, Matildah Reeves, Harriett Reeves, and John S. Reeves the surviving children of representatives of the said Isabella Reeves therein named in said last will and testament," a reference to the 1803 will of John Steel.

The children of William and Isabella are also reported in a deed from 1837 among the heirs which includes the following statement:

...Between James Reeves John S Reeves Job Tharp and Harriet his wife late Harriet Reeves all of the County of Salem of the first part and Samuel Shimp and Matilda his wife late Matilda Reeves of the same place of the second part Whereas William Reeves deceased and Isabella Reeves deceased during their lives was seized in fee simple to certain lands and real estate situate in the township of Upper Alloways Creek in said County which descended to the said James Reeves John Reeves Matilda Shimp and Harriet Tharp they being the children of the said William and Isabella Reeves deceased.

Given his location given in various records and the probable ages of his children, it appears reasonable to identify him as the William Reeve listed in Upper Alloways Creek in Salem County in the 1830 census.

James Reeve was made the administrator or William's estate on 14 Jan 1837. The inventory of William's estate is dated 13 Jan 1837.

William was buried in the Alloway United Methodist Church Cemetery, Alloway. Although the headstone photo is unreadable, Findagrave indicates he died 23 Dec 1836.
