Wiki Stats - End April 2022
The total number of pages in the Wiki (as at 1 May 2022) now stands at 12024 (previously 11949, 11823, 11725), an increase of over 75 pages during the month. Of the total, 2400 pages (was 2379, 2359, 2336) begin with a number and are most probably a date related gleaning. We currently have 5340 wiki pages categorised as "People", of which 4822 begin with the letter "R".Community members should log in to see more.
TRP Users
During April we received seven enquires about membership of TRP. We ended April with 500 user accounts registered in TRP, an increase of 2 over the month. We had two users successfully activated their account during the past month and we welcome Brian Smith and Bob C Reeve to our community. Both have already created an AboutMe page for themselves following the guidance found at First Steps - Part 2 - thank you and well done. Bob has started to get to grips with our wiki ways and is now contributing pages for his Eseex and Suffolk based family members.If you are having issues activating your account or have simply lost interest, please do let us know. Whether you joined TRP recently or a while ago, if you have yet to do so, please set a meaningful name for yourself as described in First Steps - Part 1. It isn't difficult and only takes a couple of minutes to do. If it helps, think of it as a (small) name label badge; so your first name plus the surname by which you are presently known (or at least the surname initial) would generally be a good choice. Software Upgrade - Progress Update
Last month we mentioned that we were just starting preparations for the next major upgrade of the software underpinning our Wiki. We've no progress to report this month. However, we did stumble across an issue in the current system which caused "clean" urls to be broken. Sadly we think that may have been the situation since mid 2021 when we did a point release upgrade.A usual url to a TRP page typically look like https://thereevesproject.org/data/tiki-index.php?page=HomePage_Wiki We'd be the first to concede that's a bit ugly and might deter some from wanting to participate. Which is where "clean" urls come in. They allow us to drop the ugly, technical looking bit tiki-index.php?page= out of any url, so for example the link to the Home Page, when cleaned becomes https://thereevesproject.org/data/HomePage_Wiki For day to day usage, including bookmarking pages in your browser, non-clean urls are absolutely fine. But we do tend to post clean url's as part of our quarterly updates at external sites and they are also used in our Welcome e-mails just because they are less intimidating. So if you've come across an link to TRP on a third part site and landed up with a "page not found" error, please accept our apologies. Thanks to some investigative work by Jonathan the issue has been identified and is now resolved, meaning all clean urls should be working again.
