Transcription

I Sarah Reeves of South Farnham parish in the County of Essex being in perfect sence (sic) and memory praise be given to almighty God for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this life on Earth and being desirous to Settle things in order do make this my Last will and Testam.t in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I Commend my soul to allmighty God my Creator adsuredly (sic) believing I shall receive full pardon and free remission of my sins and be Saved by the precious death and merritts of my blessed Savior and redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as to my Execut.rs hereafter named shall be thought meet and Convenience and as touching such worldly Estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent me my will and meaning is the same shall be imployed (sic) and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is expressed and first I doe revoke frustrate and make void all wills by me formerly made and declare and appoint this to be my last will and Testam.t ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Sonne George my Copper Still and all things belonging unto it and also my Silver Cann (?) and my negro man Called General ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Allen my Gold ring and one Silver Spoon ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann a Negro man Called Oxford and my negro Woman Called Barbary and her increase to her and her heirs forever ITEM I give and bequeath my Daughter Patience Gatewood my negro woman Called Sylvia and her increase to her and her heirs forever ITEM I give and bequeath all my Stock of Cattle Sheep & hoggs and horses to be equally divided between my Children Henry, Joseph, Thomas and George Reeves and my daughters Patience Gatewood and Ann Reeves and their increase to them and their Heirs for Ever ITEM I give and bequeath w,t brandy shall be left after my interments and the appraismt of my Estate to be equally divided between my Sonnes Henry Joseph Thom.s & George Reeves ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Sonne Thom.s Reeves one feather bedd boulster one pair of Sheets and one rugg or Quilt and all the money and accounts he now Stands anyways indebted or Engaged to me ITEM I give and bequeath unto my Sonnes Henry Joseph and Thomas Reeves and to my Daughters Patience Gatewood and Ann Reeves to each of them one Silver Spoon ITEM I give unto my Grandaughter Patience Reeves one feather bed boulster and one rugg & one pair of Sheets ITEM my will and desire is that all the residue and remainder of my Estate after my just debts are paid of what kind nature and Quality Soever be equally and Justly divided between my Children George Reeves Patience Gatewood and Anne Reeves to them and their heirs and assignes forever and Lastly I doe hereby nominate Constitute & appoint my Sonne George Reeves my Daughter Patience Gatewood and my Daughter Anne Reeves my whole and sole Execut.rs of this my last will and testam.t IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal the day and year first within written

I Sarah Reeves being weak and indissposed (sic) but of perfect sence and memory thanks be given to God for ye same doe order and ordain this farther addition to be made and annexed to my above will and Testam.t and to be taken deemed & construed as if it had been incerted (sic) & mentioned in the body of the above will Viz.t That my Son George have and possess my negro woman called Kate and her Child Called Harry to him and his heirs forever paying immediately after my decease the Sum of fourteen pounds Sterling to the use of her and her Heirs forever To ye use of my Dater Ann forever And farther my will and desire is that my Execut.rs within named pay or Cause to be p.d unto my s.d Thomas the sum of twenty pounds Sterling within Eight months after my decease to be raised from the n.t proceeds of the tob.o now Shipt home in Cap.t Rob.t Robbinson and the Crop now growing Standing or housed to my said son Thom.s his heirs and assignes forever IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seale & declare this addition as a part of my Last will and Testam.t this twenty third day of August 1739
