Within the modern city of Durham, North Carolina, Geer St., named for this family, still runs from the center of Durham to the northeast where it intersects with the Falls of the Neuse Lake in the area once referred to as the Fish Dam.

On 18 Aug 1832, Frederick Geer signed an affidavit in regard to the application by Thomas Ross for a Revolutionary War pension. He stated that he had hired Ross to serve in his place in a volunteer militia company from Wake County, North Carolina. From the related documents this appears to have taken place in 1779.
