TRP Users
During September we received four new enquiries about membership of TRP. We ended the month with 557 user accounts registered in TRP, an increase of two over the month. We had three users successfully activated their account during the past month. We welcome Jim, Freya and Robin to TRP's community of members. If you are having issues activating your account or have simply lost interest, please do let us know. Please contact New User Admin by sending an email to TRP123 (at) TheReevesProject (dot) org if you're stuck and need help or have subsequently decided you don't want to join our community. If you are not yet a member and would like to contribute to our community, please see our About Us page to find out a little more about TRP and then please complete our Join Us form to start the membership enrolment process.
Whether you joined TRP recently or a while ago, if you have yet to do so, please set a meaningful name for yourself as described in First Steps - Part 1. It isn't difficult and only takes a couple of minutes to do. If it helps, think of it as a (small) name label badge; so your first name plus the surname by which you are presently known (or at least the surname initial) would generally be a good choice. You'll find links to the remainder of the our six part First Steps as part of the FAQ - First Steps. Those same First Steps are also a great refresher for anybody returning to The Reeves Project after a period away.
DNA Group 23
My apologies, this should have been a feature of September's Latest News page, but it completely escaped my mind. You will find most matters relating to the Reeves DNA Project appearing in the quarterly DNA Project News, but we do usually make one significant exception. If we are able to form a new DNA Group, that should get mentioned in that month's summary. As you'll be able to read below, during August we created our latest DNA Group 23.One Million Views
On 6th September TRP's website notched up another significant milestone. Our Home page received its one millionth visit. Overall we've recorded over 22.34 million visits to TRP's pages since the project began, so your contributions here do get noticed.Reeves DNA Project Quarterly Update
This quarter started off very busily, but has then slowly quietened down....We had ten new members joining the Reeves DNA Project at FtDNA during the third quarter of 2023 and the total current membership is now 439 (as of 30 September 2023).
During July we welcomed Chuck, Raymond, Jody, Bill & David. In August we were joined by Elizabeth, Frankie & Rhonda and in September Robin and Patrick joined us.
Through the past quarter six of our ten new members had Y-DNA test results to share with the Project.

We would encourage all new Y-DNA donors or their representatives to make contact and allow us to identify them within TRP.
New member FR has a 23/25 match with ten members of DNA Group 06a, suggesting their shared common ancestor is a significant way back in time.
New DNA Group 23
The initial (Y25) test results from Kit 98412 for Julius were noted back in October 2007 and were added to the ungrouped pool. The test was upgraded to Y37 a year later and they have remained in the ungrouped pool for the past 15 years. In mid August 2023, Beverly announced the formation of our latest DNA Group 23 based on a 37/37 match between the results for Julius and new project group member DR. Both individuals have multiple matches to individuals with other surnames.Membership Criteria & DNA Group XX
Unlike some one name DNA studies, the Reeves DNA Project is happy to welcome all those with an interest in the Reeves surname (and its variants), regardless of their gender or their surname. For those who have taken a Y-DNA test, if your results match one of our pre-existing Groups, we will automatically link your kit with that group. All other Y-DNA test results remain in the ungrouped pool. However, keeping the ungrouped pool free of Y-DNA results we know should never expect a Reeves Y-DNA match makes life much easier for both the admins and those project members hoping to find a Reeves Y-DNA match. If your connection to the R*v*(s) surname is from a female ancestor and you have taken a Y-DNA test, please take a minute to read DNA Group XX's home page within TRP.
During the past quarter we've seen two notifications for an existing Y-DNA kit upgraded to a Big-Y, one in DNA Group 08 and the other in DNA Group 10. There have been two new results from a new Family Finder Donor and one from a new mt-DNA donor.
