John was living in Southold in 1789 when he sold some land to John Corwin 3rd. It mentions land "by the upland of my brother James Reeve." His mother "Anna Reeve Widow of James Reeve Esquire Deceased" quit claim to dower in the deed.

John and his wife Keziah were admitted to Mattituck Pres in 1790 on examination. He served as an elder and deacon at Mattituck Presbyterian Church.
