Narrative
In Samuel Reeves' Revolutionary War pension statement given in Lincoln County, Tennessee in 1819, he states that he entered the service in 1775 from Surry County, North Carolina and Surry was formed from Rowan in 1771. The 1770 tax lists of Rowan County list James Reeves, son of William Reeves of Granville County, and his sons Jeremiah and William. Additionally there is a Benjamin Reeves who is likely the Benjamin of that family as named in the 1751 Granville County will of William Reeves. The parents of Samuel Reeves are unknown. In the 1790 census of Granville County, he is living next door to Samuel Brack who is presumably his wife Susannah's father.
April 1803 in Iredell County, North Carolina, Samuel Reaves (sic) was executor of the will of his brother-in-law Benjamin Coates. Iredell County WB 1, pg 82.
Samuel Reavis is listed on the 1810 census in Iredell County.
The 1820 census of Lincoln County TN records Samuel Reeves' household with 1 Male 16-18, 2 Males 18-26, 1 Male over 45 years and 1 Female over 45 years.
Children of Samuel Reeves and Susannah Brack named in his RW pension file:

- Malachi Reeves, b. c1796
- Isaac Reeves, b. c1788
