In an 1834 unacknowledged deed recorded in Suffolk County, Samuel and his wife Margaret of New York City along with Jesse granted some land to Edward Reeves of Southampton. The deed states that this land had been given to Samuel and Philip Reeves by the will of their grandfather John Reeves. In a previous deed dated 29 Nov 1827, Philip Reeves of New York City sold some land in Southampton to Shadrach Reeves which was the "whole undivided part obtained by the last Will and Testament of John Reeves deceased formerly Farmer of Southampton." In this deed he referring to his brother Samuel, sister Hannah, and mother Desire Reeves. According to transcriptions of the North End Graveyard in Southampton, Desire was the relict of John Reeves Jr.The 1830 and 1840 census would suggest he had a large family.
His death record states he had lived in New York city for two years and that he was buried in Evergreens Cemetery, which is also where his brother Samuel was buried.
