Children of John Reeves, Jr. and Desire Hildreth:
  1. Philip Reeves, b. c1790
  2. Samuel Reeves, b. c1794
  3. William Reeves, b. 25 Nov 1796
  4. Stephen Reeves, b. 28 Feb 1798
  5. Hannah Hildreth Reeves, b. 16 Sep 1801

The following baptisms with births are recorded in Southampton Presbyterian Church Records:
  • 1798 July 22 - William, son of John Reeves and Desire Hildreth, born Nov. 25, 1796.
  • 1799 Nov. 17 - Stephen, son of John Reeves and Desire Hildreth, his wife, born Feb. 28, 1798.
  • 1802 May 16 - Hannah Hildreth, daughter of John Reeves, Jr., and Desire Hildreth, his wife, born Sep. 16, 1801.

John appears on the 1800 census in Southampton next to his brother Thomas Reeves and second down from David Reeves.

This appears to be John Reve in Southampton in 1810 listed next to his brother Thomas.

Sons Philip and Samuel appear to still be in the household in 1820, although the daughter is not. John is listed next to Thomas again, with David and David Jr. to the other side of Thomas.

In an 1834 unacknowledged deed recorded in Suffolk County, Samuel and his wife Margaret of New York City along with Jesse granted some land to Edward Reeves of Southampton. The deed states that this land had been given to Samuel and Philip Reeves by the will of their grandfather John Reeves. In a previous deed dated 29 Nov 1827, Philip Reeves of New York City sold some land in Southampton which was the "whole undivided part obtained by the last Will and Testament of John Reeves deceased formerly Farmer of Southampton." In this deed he referring to his brother Samuel, sister Hannah, and mother Desire Reeves. According to transcriptions of the North End Graveyard in Southampton, Desire was the relict of John Reeves Jr.

The following are listed in a transcription of the North End Graveyard for this couple:
  • Reeves | Desire | 11/4/1837 | relict of John Reeves Jr. ae 74.
  • Reeves | John, Jr. | 8/27/1824 | ae 62.

Although the headstone transcription would indicate he was born around 1762, this must be the same as John Jr. son of John Reeves and Mary Culver who was born 6 Dec 1765 as specified in the Family Bible.

Typewritten notes included in the Digital Long Island Collection among Mortuary and Bible Records includes the following entries under ''Mortuary Records from Diary of Daniel Hildreth";
  • Desire Hildreth, wife John Reeves Nov. 4, 1873 ae 74
  • John Reeves Aug. 27, 1824 ae 62
(Note that either the original or the typewritten record switched the two numbers in Desire's death date.)
